Comments from Students
I started writing for the first time last spring with Miriam Sagan. ... Miriam is so supportive... She put two of my poems up on her website (Sante Fe Poetry journal) in January. This spring I won honorable mention in the Denny Prize (highly competitive creative writing prize at St. Kate's). I submitted my work from Miriam's classes and from John High's Spiritual Autobiography class. Two English Department faculty ALSO received awards. I can't tell you what an important event this is. Believe me, you are doing GREAT work! And, I'm so lucky to be part of it. .... It's BECAUSE of writers.com that I arrived here at this place in my life. This writing "thing" is not trivial!--

The lessons and class content was Excellent. The teacher was great, very informative and guided us through a well thought out course. I wish there were more teachers with her strong teaching capabilities on the net. .... I already have recommened these classes to people I know. --

I was very happy with the class content and with the teacher. She was fabulous. She always offered insightful and positive feedback on our work and her critiques were very helpful. The lessons were clearly outlined and promptly delivered each week.... The three classes I have taken with you have all been great and I have recommened you to friends. -- Minette Riordan
Miriam offers wonderful guidance and feedback. She is always encouraging and supportive, and her class environment fosters optimal creative growth. At no point did I become discouraged with my writing - quite the opposite. Miriam's lessons were invaluble, and I discovered new confidence in myself as a writer. -- Courtney Johnson
Miriam brings much writing expertise and a very sensitive, thoughtful and heartfelt approach to teaching. She meets each writer just where they are and responds in a detailed way without "over-critiquing." She brings an egoless presence and wisdom to the group. One gets the sense that they are learning with a master. In fact this was a "double class" in that way, as I was able to observe Miriam's teaching style as well! Miriam's comments and guidance on the emotional issue of "getting published" were very specific and helpful, and served to put this aspect of writing in its proper perspective! -- Martine Josep
